Doh!

I'm still a dope when it comes to how much yarn is in the ball and how far will it go. I don't know anyone personally who knits and being disabled I can't really pop out to knitting groups, and we don't have a local yarn store. So there you are, I'm learning as I go.

The problem is I'm 3/4 done with my latest bath mitt and it's looking good. I used Knit Picks Shine and at this point I can't ignore that I will run out of yarn. I really thought one ball of yarn should make one mitt. I just can't bring myself to crack open another ball for one mitt. Cheap I am! With a ball of Lily Sugar and Cream I've made two mitts and am now knitting a dishcloth. I just couldn't ignore the economics, even though the yarns are quite different.

So I bought some SandC and will try the pattern on the ball band since this yarn doesn't really do ribbing.

Time Warp Again

What happened? Sometimes I lose a few weeks, zing, it feels like only a day has passed.

Knitting along I have been on a quest for a nice bath mitt pattern; I'm thinking Christmas. First was the one mentioned previously from the book One-Skein Wonders. Then I made some simple adjustments and made the one pictured. It's better but improvements can still be made.

Now before I get to work making changes I come across a pattern over a Plymouth Yarn with many of these features in place. So I'm now knitting this one up with a few size adjustments. I'm close now I can feel it, bath mitt joy is eminent.

Posh Indeed

Posh Yarn was my first pricey yarn purchase. But boy are they pretty, just look at those colors! The one on the right has every color possible in it. On the surface it looks all pink and blue but look between the twists and green, yellow, red it's unreal.

The only problem is I chose these like a kid in a candy store not stopping to think maybe two skeins of one color would be better, you know, to actually knit something.

At this point my yarn has seen more of the world than I ever will!

FO Bath Mitt

I finished this bath mitt from the book One-Skein Wonders sans the lace trim. I'm not real fond of the shape, that 90 degree thumb, but I think it's a good jumping off point. Because the size is good, just a little more effort on the thumb and longer if you leave the lace off and it would be good. I'll add it to the list.

For now I've cast on the wrist yarn holder. Looks super handy and Teresa's pattern has nice pattern details.

Yarn Haul

My first real haul of yarn! I found the most excellent seller on ebay: Cucumberpatch UK. Yep, even coming from across the pond it was an awesome deal, and it arrived in 2 days!

Two of the yarns I had specific projects in mind and the other two were whim, "what a deal", "I'd like to try that" purchases. Is that how a stash starts?

Clean Up

I email myself links form my Palm to my desktop and they are starting to clutter the inbox. So lets check them out, together...

Discount Yarn Sale
The Sundown Lid: A Geodesic Hat Knitty Gritty Project
Freeform Crochet Purse Uncommon Threads
Socks by Name
kpixie
Flirty Shrug Knitty Gritty
Peter Callesen awesome art from paper

Well that's much better. Can you tell I DVR Knitty Gritty everyday? A couple of these I can't recall why I wanted them, hmm.

FO Fetching

Like so many I had to knit up fetching from the summer 2006 Knitty. They have the best free patterns. Anywho this was a step up for me with the cables and picot bind off, but this was the perfect foot wetter.

I did add 5 to the cast on basically another rib, 'cause I'm a big chick. I do want to make another pair and try for even better sizing. Plus I'm finally getting the hang of double points sans ladders, hooray!

Jumping In

How do you start a blog? It's like merging on the freeway, eventually you just have to go for it. I was also motivated by my invite to Ravelry, hooray. I think it's been a month or longer since I added my name to the list.

Perhaps I should refrain from gushing about Ravelry until it is open to all. They posted how people are upset not receiving an invite. I think people get anxious because every prominent blogger and podcaster does have access and Ravelry has become a frequently used verb in their vocabulary. This can make one feel left out. I know that when I would here Ravelry in a podcast I would have to check the web page to see if they were open.

Well maybe I should tell you that I am a artsy gal and currently knitting is my focus. I taught myself a couple of years ago but this year really got into it.
